Dental implants are perhaps the most effective method for transforming your smile. What do dental implants do? Simply put, they replace broken or missing teeth with an artificial tooth. If you have missing teeth or if you wear dentures that you find uncomfortable, you might consider learning more about dental implants.
As you will learn from our dentist in a consultation, there are three stages involved in implant dentistry. Initially, the dentist will surgically place a titanium post in the upper or lower jaw. The next step allows time for the jaw bone to grow around the implant, holding it in place. While your mouth is healing, our dentist may recommend a diet of soft foods or cold foods. Our dentist will be able to determine how much time to dedicate to this phase of the treatment.
At this point, you’re ready for phase three. Our dentist will customize a tooth for you which is called a dental crown. This artificial tooth will blend in with the rest of your mouth based on color, shape and size. Your dentist will place the crown. If you are receiving multiple dental implants, customized bridges may be used as well.
The development of dental implants is one of the most fantastic advances in dental care in our lifetime. They are a great, long-term solution to issues with missing teeth that you may be uncomfortable with. Good candidates for dental implants include individuals who are healthy and who aren’t currently facing certain chronic illnesses such as leukemia or diabetes.
